Had a great time working with @maxstudios.nyc late Had a great time working with @maxstudios.nyc late last month to work on some new materials.
2026 is a year of wanting to level up, and lean into enjoying and sharing my work a bit more, even if some of these are clearly works in progress or revisits. It’s funny how we are sometimes champions for others, but not as much ourselves. Changing that mindset starting this month.

Was thrilled to be invited to start the holiday se Was thrilled to be invited to start the holiday season earlier this month with @ithacamtd and @dcjubileesingers to perform Dr Lena McLin’s Christmas Cantata. This past year has been one full of gratitude, and full circle moments that have completely filled my cup, and made me feel whole. I am so appreciative of everyone I have met along this journey this year, and cannot wait to collaborate with friends old and new in 2026! Stay tuned for some exciting updates, and ambitious goals to knock out in 2026! Happy holidays, and happy new year! 🎊 🎄🍾
Grateful! It’s the feeling and phrase I kept comi Grateful!

It’s the feeling and phrase I kept coming back to over and over during this production of Porgy and Bess.

Greatful to be able to return back to HGO after so almost 6 years.

Greatful to finally dive into this piece that in hindsight, I’d foolishly avoided picking up.

Greatful to work with and create new friendships with these incredible artists.

Greatful to reconnect with so many dear friends and pick up almost immediately where we left off.

Greatful to sit under the learning tree and watch some folks that I’ve admired from afar up close. Watching their process is one of my favorite parts of this journey.

Greatful for the first time in my career where I didn’t question my belonging as a black artist in this arena.

And so many other gratitudes and feelings that I can’t properly express. I’ve ticked off some huge black music history bucket list items in the last couple of years, and this one was at the top of the list. I’m so inspired by the work of this group. Every day I kept saying I want to work a little harder and enjoyed that push and support. This cast, this house, this production is so special, and if ever I should get another chance, I won’t hesitate to catch the next plane to catfish row!

#longpostalert⚠️ Taking some time to reflect on t #longpostalert⚠️
Taking some time to reflect on the last month of work. These last two projects in particular are back to back career highlights and am so thankful for them.

Treemonisha: My 10th production with @operaorlando, but my first in a principal role not under a YAP contract. It felt right for it to be this show, and I feel honored to be invited to be a part of the first production of this long ignored opera in the state of Florida. The connections and friendships made here will last a lifetime.

Before that was my return to @operaithaca for their regional premiere of Lucidity my Laura Kaminsky and David Cote. It’s always special to go back and sing at your home company, in your hometown, but this is with out a doubt the first time I felt in control of every single note, color, motivation, and idea about this role. I’m so thankful that On Site Opera gave me this opportunity to study this piece in the fall, and that I was able to give it a shot.

Nothing in this business is a given, and I know that we can’t always choose our dream productions, but boy oh boy have I been lucky to work with some stellar colleagues that make me hungrier for a little bit more every day. For now a break, but tomorrow, it’s back to work…
